Mr William J. Conn OAM – Chairman
Bill
was appointed as National Chairman of The Foundation for Young
Australians at its formation in June 2000. He was appointed to
the Board of the Australian Youth Foundation (one of the
organisations that merged to become The Foundation for Young
Australians) in November 1995 and was appointed Chairman in
February 1999.
Bill holds a B Comm. (Hons);
MBA; CPA. He is the Chairman of the Grand Hotel Group, Homeloans Limited, Palm Springs Limited; Director of Village Roadshow Limited and other public and private companies.
Mr Adam Smith – Deputy Chairman
Adam was appointed to the Board of The Foundation for Young Australians in May 2004
and was elected Deputy Chairman in May 2005.
Adam is the founder of ‘Directing Potential’, a dynamic
social enterprise to maximise the potential of
Australia’s young people. He has worked with the Coalition
for the Homeless in New York and was Australia’s Youth
Representative to the General Assembly of the United Nations
in 2003. Adam is a Trustee of the Skills Plus Youth
Foundation. He is an Australia Day Ambassador and a
recipient of the 2004 Celebrating Melbourne Award.
Mr Mark Paton – Honorary Treasurer

Mark was appointed Honorary Treasurer to the Board of The
Foundation for Young Australians in March 2004. Mark has worked
for several financial institutions over 29 years, most recently ANZ Banking
Group Ltd.
Mark holds a Masters in Banking Management from Macquarie
Graduate School of Management.

Mr Aleem Ali - Director
Aleem was appointed to the Board in March 2008.
Aleem is the co-founder and CEO of Speak Out limited
(SpeakOut), an independent social enterprise that
nurtures the creativity and participation of young
people, creating opportunities for them to change
their world. SpeakOut was one of the first
enterprises funded by the Foundation through the
Breakthrough Program, in 2001.
With over 15 years experience in the business,
community, cultural and government sectors, he has
consulted for and been contracted to, Brisbane City
Council, Youth Arts Queensland, Federal and State
Government Departments, small to medium enterprises
and Community organisations.
In 2007, Aleem was awarded the Lord Mayor's
Australia Day Achievement Award for Outstanding Work
in the Community.

Ms Tracey-Lee Edwards - Director
Tracey-Lee was appointed to the Board in May 2006. Tracey-Lee
Edwards is a young Koori woman and was born and raised in Perth,
WA. Tracey-Lee is currently employed as a Communications
Officer for the Kulunga Research Network, the Indigenous
Research arm of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research
in Perth WA.
Tracey-Lee has previously worked for the Australian Government
Department of Family and Community Services and the Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander Commission. She has extensive public
relations and event management experience, predominantly in
Indigenous affairs and has been involved with the delivery of
public information campaigns such as NAIDOC Week.
In addition to her professional work, Tracey-Lee actively
pursues volunteer involvement, and is currently studying towards
a Diploma of Event Management. 
Ms Karina Gray - Director

Karina was appointed to the Board in May 2005 and is also a
member of The Foundation’s ACT Ambassador Committee and
Partnership Grants Committee. Originally from WA, Karina is
now living in Griffith, NSW and is employed as a Projects
Officer with Tirkandi Inaburra, a cultural development and
learning centre for Indigenous males, aged 12-15. Prior to
this Karina was employed in the Australian Public Service as
an Assistant Manager in the Sport Industry Section of DCITA.
Karina has extensive an extensive work background in the
youth sector and Indigenous employment.
Karina was previously a member of The Foundation’s
Western Australian Committee and represented The Foundation
at the Creating Commonwealth Youth Enterprise Forum.
Karina has a Bachelor of Social Science, Major in Youth
Work and Justice Studies. Karina also received an ACT Office
for Women’s Scholarship enabling her to complete the
Australian Institute of Company Directors – Directors
Essentials Course in 2006. Currently, Karina is studying to
complete a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship through
Charles Sturt University.

Mr Jason Grubisic - Director
Jason
was appointed to the Board in May 2005, and is also a member of
The Foundation's Youth Change Makers Committee. Jason was
previously a member of the challenge ya! and NSW Committees.
Jason works at NetX , Australia's largest independent
interactive agency based in Sydney, and has previously worked at
Tribal DDB Amsterdam. H e is currently studying an arts/law
degree.
He was previously a Director of the Youth Action & Policy
Association (YAPA), the peak representative body in NSW for
young people and youth workers, and Marketing Officer for the
Australian Law Students Association (ALSA), the peak
representative body for law students across Australia.
Mr Min Guo - Director
Min
was appointed to the Board in May 2005 and is a member of The
Foundation’s South Australian Ambassador Committee. He was
previously a member of The Foundation’s Partnership Grants and
On Track committees.
In 2002 he was awarded the Centenary Medal for service to youth
and the community. He co-founded the Public Interest Legal
Trust, which provides educational and professional development
programs for law students and young lawyers. Min is a qualified
engineer and is also completing an honours degree in law.

Mr Felix Ho - Director
Felix was
appointed to the Board in May 2006. Felix is currently studying
a Paramedic / Training & Development degree. He has previously
worked with young people in a training, self development,
consultative and health setting and was privileged to have been
selected as the Tasmanian Young Australian of the Year for 2006.

Ms Tanya Hosch - Director
Tanya was appointed to the Board of The Foundation for Young Australians in May 2004.
Tanya has worked in a range of areas of Indigenous affairs for the past eight years in both State and Commonwealth Government agencies. This has included work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Unit of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and the Secretariat of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation. Particular areas of interest and commitment over recent years are projects relating to increasing the representation of young Indigenous people and providing opportunities for the development of younger people.
Tanya is a member of The Foundation for Young Australians' Indigenous Strategy Committee. She was a participant in The Foundation for Young Australians' Leadership Forum in 1998 and a participant in, and organiser of, the Indigenous Leadership Forum 2000, 2002 and 2003.
Mr Aaron Ross - Director
Aaron’s
expertise is in media and communications, of which he has worked
in for almost 20 years. He currently works with the NSW
Government as a media advisor to a range of Ministers, and
helped establish the national radio program Speaking Out at the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation. A Biri Gubba man
himself, Aaron has worked to promote and defend Aboriginal
Affairs in the media for organisations including the NSW Land
Council and ATSIC, working on campaigns including the Stolen
Generations, Sorry Day and Native Title.
Dr Jenny Proimos - Director
Jenny was appointed to the Board of Directors late in 2007.
Jenny is a
paediatrician and adolescent health physician at the Centre for
Adolescent Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
She is also a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics
at the University of Melbourne.
Jenny holds a medical degree from the University of Melbourne
and a Master Degree of Public Health from the Harvard School of
Public Health, majoring in health policy and management.
Jenny is currently President of the Paediatric and Child Health
Division and serves on the Board executive at the Royal
Australian College of Physicians.
